CENTCOM disputes reports about conditions aboard USS Abraham Lincoln

U.S. Central Command said reports that seven sailors died in a fight aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln and that suicides had increased are false, while confirming one sailor went overboard Aug. 3 and was safely recovered.

Fort DrumUpdated

U.S. Central Command disputed reports about conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, saying no service members aboard the aircraft carrier have died during its deployment and rejecting claims that seven sailors died in a fight or that suicidal thoughts had increased among the crew.

CENTCOM said one sailor went overboard Aug. 3 and was quickly and safely recovered. The command also said the ship’s crew had an 84.4% reenlistment rate. The Lincoln Carrier Strike Group has spent more than 260 days at sea, conducted 10,000 aircraft flights and expended 1.5 million pounds of ordnance, according to the command.
