Jefferson Concrete employee retires after 50 years of service

Frederick “Chip” Andrews retired from Jefferson Concrete Corp. after 50 years working with burial vaults and serving cemeteries in the region.

WatertownCommunity

Frederick “Chip” Andrews has retired from Jefferson Concrete Corp. after five decades with the company. During that time, he worked with burial vaults and helped prepare graveside sites in Jefferson and Lewis counties and northern Oswego County, the attached report states.

Jefferson Concrete held a retirement gathering for Andrews on Aug. 7 at its facility on Murrock Circle in Watertown. The company said Andrews’ work involved delivering, installing and sealing concrete burial vaults, as well as setting up tents and preparing sites for funerals. The report states that he was involved with approximately 30,000 burials.

Andrews also operated a dairy farm on Rutland Hollow Road with his wife, Donna, until last year. He now has more time for fishing, according to the report.
