Democrat Blake Gendebien conceded the NY-21 congressional race to Republican Anthony Constantino on Friday, three days after Election Day. Constantino will replace outgoing Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, who did not seek reelection.
Gendebien said there were still votes to count but that the remaining numbers could not change the result. He also said he hoped Constantino would prioritize the North Country in Congress.
In St. Lawrence County, Gendebien received 18,435 votes and Constantino received 16,215, according to the reported election results. Constantino also carried Lewis, Herkimer, Fulton and Oneida counties, while Gendebien led in Clinton, Essex and Warren counties.
