Gendebien says he is focused on North Country issues in NY-21 race
Democratic congressional candidate Blake Gendebien said he rejects Democratic socialist positions and is focused on issues including agriculture, immigration, jobs and the military.
Democratic congressional candidate Blake Gendebien is positioning himself as a North Country-focused Democrat in the race for New York’s 21st Congressional District, saying he rejects some positions associated with Democratic socialists and wants to concentrate on regional issues.
Gendebien, a dairy farmer and small-business owner from Lisbon, said his priorities include agriculture, jobs, immigration, the cost of living and protecting Fort Drum and Griffiss. He supports securing the border, deporting violent criminals who are in the country illegally and creating a legal guest-worker system for agriculture with defined employment periods and enforcement rules.
The district’s Democratic candidate is running against Republican Anthony Constantino. Gendebien also has said he favors cooperation between parties on projects such as the planned Chobani development in Rome.
