A Mohawk man received five years of probation in Jefferson County Court after being accused of taking cattle from two farms in Ellisburg in January.

Brent Bruneau was accused of taking four Holstein calves from Bellwood Farms and 13 Holstein heifers from Birch Creek Farm. He was sentenced on attempted third-degree grand larceny and attempted third-degree burglary charges, with the probation terms running at the same time.

Bruneau was also ordered to pay more than $19,000 in restitution. The source material says $9,000 has been paid, with the remaining balance to be paid in monthly installments of $500.
