Lewis County Public Health reported 10 additional measles cases on Oct. 2, bringing the county’s reported total to 11 after an earlier case was announced Sept. 26. The department said all cases involved unvaccinated residents and that people who remain contagious are isolating until their infectious periods end.

New York has recorded 85 confirmed measles cases this year outside New York City, Jefferson County Public Health Service said Oct. 2. Some cases have been linked to travel outside New York, while others resulted from local transmission. No confirmed cases had been reported in Jefferson County, officials said.
