Lewis County reports 10 additional measles cases

Lewis County Public Health reported 10 additional measles cases, all involving unvaccinated people, while saying the overall public risk remains low.

LewisPublic Safety

Lewis County Public Health has reported 10 additional measles cases. All of the cases involve unvaccinated people, and residents who remain infectious have been isolated until they are no longer contagious, the agency said. No further details about the residents will be released to protect their privacy.

The agency said it has identified and contacted people known to have been exposed. The overall risk to the public remains low, especially for fully vaccinated people and those born before 1957. People who may have been exposed should monitor for symptoms for 21 days and call a health care provider or Lewis County Public Health promptly if they are unvaccinated, pregnant or immunocompromised. Anyone with symptoms or a suspected exposure should call ahead before going to a medical facility.
