Planned Parenthood of the North Country New York will hold a virtual public hearing Nov. 16 on its proposed closure of the Lowville Health Center at 7398 Turin Road. The hearing is part of the New York State Department of Health’s review of the proposed facility closure.
The hearing will run from 6 to 7 p.m. and requires advance registration. Community members, patients, health care providers and others will be able to submit comments through a moderator during the event. Registration is available through the Planned Parenthood webinar registration page. People who need the link or have questions can email media@ppncny.org.
Planned Parenthood has proposed closing the Lowville center by Dec. 31, 2026, pending approval from the New York State Department of Health. The organization has said patients will continue to have access to services through its Watertown and Canton health centers, as well as telehealth services when appropriate.
Planned Parenthood of the North Country New York has cited financial challenges facing its health centers, including low Medicaid reimbursement rates and the loss of federal funding. The organization serves rural communities across six Northern New York counties, where patients may need to travel long distances for care.
The organization’s patient navigation team is available to help patients with questions, referrals and connections to services. The hearing will be held entirely online, with participation available after registration.
