The New York State Fair’s annual butter sculpture tradition dates to 1969. The 2025 sculpture used about 800 pounds of butter and was displayed in the Dairy Products Building at the fairgrounds in Geddes.
Sculptors Jim Victor and Marie Pelton created the sculpture for the 24th consecutive year. The butter came from O-AT-KA Milk Products in Batavia and did not meet specifications for retail sale. After the fair, Noblehurst Farms in Pavilion processed the used butter in an anaerobic digester to produce renewable energy.
