DEXTER, NY: Get ready for some energy, excitement, and plenty of school spirit! Cheerleaders are taking the floor today, Saturday, October 17, as General Brown High School hosts a local cheerleading competition.
The event is expected to get underway at approximately 9:30 AM, according to information supplied to ClickNNY, bringing athletes, coaches, families, and supporters together for a morning of routines, athleticism, and friendly competition. The start time has not yet been independently verified.
For these young athletes, cheerleading is about much more than cheering from the sidelines. It's a sport that requires strength, precision, coordination, teamwork, and countless hours of practice.
And today is their opportunity to put all that hard work on display.
A Chance to Show What They've Been Working On
From synchronized movements and jumps to stunts and carefully rehearsed routines, competitive cheerleading combines athleticism with school spirit.
It's also an opportunity for parents, grandparents, friends, and fellow students to support the athletes representing their schools and communities.
The competition is taking place at General Brown High School, 17643 Cemetery Road in Dexter, just outside Watertown.
