North Country communities receive $4.6 million in NY PLAYS grants
New York has awarded $4.6 million through the NY PLAYS program for playground, sports court and recreation projects across the North Country.
The North Country is receiving $4.6 million through New York’s Places for Learning, Activity, and Youth Socialization program, part of a statewide $67.5 million investment announced by Gov. Kathy Hochul.
The grants include $1.28 million for a playground at the Battlefield Memorial Gateway in the Town of Plattsburgh; $799,568.80 for playground equipment and a sports court in Ogdensburg; and $276,489 to expand a playground in the Town of St. Armand. Other awards will support playground and court renovations at Indian River Central School District schools in Calcium, Philadelphia, Theresa and Antwerp. Grants also include $126,764 for the Police Activities League of Massena’s PAL Playzone and $105,902 for a new playground at Cody O’Connor Park in Moira.
