Ogdensburg council delays proposed land bank property transfer

Ogdensburg City Council did not move forward with a proposed transfer of 530 Rensselaer Avenue and 615 Ford Street to the Ogdensburg Land Bank Corporation. The resolution required six affirmative votes, while Councilor Dan Skamperle was absent and Deputy Mayor Jennifer Stevenson planned to recuse herself because of a potential conflict related to her work as a realtor.

The city held a public hearing on the proposed sale. One resident, Greg McNamara, asked for more information about the Land Bank’s plans and requested that a representative attend a future council meeting. The properties were acquired by the city through tax foreclosure proceedings, and the proposed transfer would have been for $1 per property, plus attorney and filing fees.
