Potsdam board approves corrected vacant-property law

The Potsdam Village Board approved a corrected amendment to its vacant-property code after a clerical error required a second public hearing and vote.

The Potsdam Village Board of Trustees approved a corrected amendment to the village’s vacant-property code Monday night. The measure allows code enforcement officials to fine owners who are not taking steps to sell or rent chronically vacant buildings.

Trustees had previously approved the law after a public hearing in June, but a clerical error in that version misnumbered sections of the code. The village held a new hearing and voted again on the corrected resolution.
