Potsdam board plans vote on six-month battery storage moratorium

The Potsdam Town Council is scheduled to vote Oct. 13 at 4:30 p.m. on a proposed six-month moratorium for commercial-scale battery energy storage facilities. The board passed a resolution proposing the moratorium at a special meeting Friday.

The proposal would prohibit the construction, development or installation of battery energy storage facilities rated at 25 kilowatt-hours or more. Such systems can store electricity generated by commercial-scale solar and wind facilities.
