Police said an officer went to the home around 2:30 p.m. to arrest the man. The man displayed a knife, police said, leading the officer to draw a firearm. The man then barricaded himself inside the home.
The incident brought city firefighters and Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies to the area. Police began evacuating nearby homes at about 3:25 p.m., according to police information cited in the report. Several minutes later, the man exited the home with his hands up and was taken into custody.
