SUNY Potsdam faculty members Page Quinton and Michael Rygel have received a three-year, $411,477 National Science Foundation grant for a project examining the chemistry and salinity of ancient waters preserved in sedimentary rocks.

Quinton, an associate professor, is the project’s principal investigator, while Rygel, a professor, is a co-principal investigator. The research will include field work in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland, and will provide paid research opportunities for SUNY Potsdam undergraduates.
