SUNY Potsdam was ranked ninth nationally in Washington Monthly’s 2026 Best Colleges for Rural America list. The ranking evaluated 1,200 rural-serving, four-year nonprofit colleges, according to the submitted research material.
SUNY Potsdam was the highest-ranked SUNY campus and the only New York institution in the list’s top 20. The ranking considered factors including rural and in-state student enrollment and graduation, affordability, student debt, post-graduation earnings and preparation for high-demand fields.
