Teen in stable condition after being hit by train in Gouverneur

A 15-year-old is in stable condition at a Syracuse hospital after being hit by a CSX train in Gouverneur, police said. The teenager was flown to the hospital.

Police said the incident occurred near the railroad trestle above William Street in the village. Investigators said the teenager was on the tracks as the train approached and did not leave them before being struck. Police are continuing to investigate and said they currently believe the incident was an accident.
