The Watertown City Council is scheduled to hear a presentation Monday night on a proposal to lease and operate the city-owned Thompson Park golf course for the next season. Andrea Doane submitted the only proposal received by the city.
The proposal calls for payments of $3,000 per month from April through October. Doane is scheduled to present the proposal and answer council members’ questions during the council’s work session on Nov. 9, 2026.
The city bought the former Watertown Golf Club for $3.4 million in 2023. City officials have been considering alternatives to operating the course themselves, after concerns about losses in recent years. The council voted in October to continue lease negotiations, while members also raised concerns about the proposed one-season agreement.
The proposal was submitted under Jefferson County Business Services Inc. Doane is a local certified public accountant, and her family previously owned the Rustic Golf Course in Pillar Point.
State Legislature approval is required before the city can lease the property because it is dedicated to park and recreation use. The City Council will have the final say on whether to accept the proposal. Additional city information is available through the official bids listing and the city’s RFP listing.
