Watertown woman pleads not guilty in fatal crosswalk crash case

A 21-year-old Watertown woman pleaded not guilty to a second-degree vehicular assault charge in connection with a July crash that killed a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The plea was entered in Watertown City Court, and the case is expected to go before a grand jury.

The crash happened at Coffeen Street and Bellew Avenue. Patricia Curtis was flown to SUNY Upstate and later died from her injuries. The woman also pleaded not guilty to charges of driving while intoxicated, failing to stop at a red light and failing to yield the right of way to a person in a crosswalk. Her license was suspended and later revoked on Aug. 20.
