Wolcott motorcyclist dies in Herkimer County crash, State Police say
New York State Police said a 21-year-old Wolcott man was killed when his motorcycle struck a tractor-trailer and then a tree in the Town of Ohio.
A 21-year-old man from Wolcott died in a motorcycle crash in the Town of Ohio in Herkimer County, New York State Police said. His name was not released.
Police said the man was riding a 2026 Yamaha north on State Route 8 when the motorcycle entered the southbound lane and struck a 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by a Canadian man. The motorcycle then left the roadway and hit a tree. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A drug recognition expert determined the tractor-trailer driver was not impaired, according to State Police. The investigation remains ongoing.
