Barred owl released after rescue from fishing line at Madison County reservoir

A barred owl was released at Mount Hope Reservoir in Madison County after being rescued from fishing line and a lure in July, according to the submitted report and source material.

The owl was found dangling about 20 feet above the reservoir with the lure caught in its wing. It was taken to Cornell for treatment and later returned to Woodhaven Wildlife Center before being released back into its territory. The center has urged people to properly dispose of fishing line, lures and related waste.
