Bassmaster Angler of the Year race reaches Clayton finale
The top three anglers in the Bassmaster Angler of the Year standings are separated by one point entering the season finale in Clayton.
The Bassmaster Angler of the Year championship will be decided in Clayton, where Trey McKinney, Drew Cook and Cory Johnston enter the finale separated by a single point.
McKinney leads with 635 points, followed by Cook with 634 and Johnston with 633. Anglers launched from Clayton Harbor Municipal Marina at 7 a.m. and were scheduled to return there for the official weigh-in at 3 p.m.
Johnston, of Peterborough, Ontario, has won three times and finished second twice while fishing the St. Lawrence River. McKinney, 21, could become the youngest Angler of the Year winner. Cook moved into contention after recent top-five finishes at Santee Cooper, the Pasquotank and Lake Champlain.
