Bowhunting Deer Season Opens in St. Lawrence County

Bowhunting deer season in St. Lawrence County began Sept. 27, according to information in the submitted research material. The season is part of New York’s early deer and bear hunting seasons, which have different dates and rules depending on the Wildlife Management Unit.

During the early antlerless season, hunters may take only deer without antlers or with antlers shorter than 3 inches, using Deer Management Permits or Deer Management Assistance Program tags. Legal hunting hours for deer and bear are from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. Hunters using firearms, including muzzleloaders, must wear fluorescent orange or fluorescent pink clothing.
