The play is set in 1926 and follows women who painted luminous watch dials after radium was promoted as a medical treatment. The story centers on Grace Fryer’s legal fight against her former employer.

Carthage High School is located at 36500 NYS Route 26 in Carthage. The school serves communities in the area and part of the Fort Drum housing area.
“Radium Girls” was first produced at Playwrights’ Theatre of New Jersey in 2000. The licensing information describes the play as a roughly 130-minute production with nine to 10 actors covering more than 30 roles.
