Cayuga County jail inmate charged after alleged incident involving deputies
The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office said an inmate was charged after allegedly throwing urine-contaminated toilet water at deputies and threatening them with a broken meal tray.
The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office said David M. O'Brien, 53, was charged after an alleged July 22 incident at the Cayuga County Jail in Sennett. The office said O'Brien threw a cup of toilet water contaminated with urine at deputies, hitting multiple staff members, and broke a meal tray before threatening to use part of it to hurt deputies.
O'Brien was arrested Aug. 21 after an investigation, the sheriff's office said. He faces three counts of aggravated harassment of an employee by an inmate and one count of menacing. The office said he remained jailed on unrelated charges.
