Construction starts on 125-unit senior housing project in Syracuse

Construction is underway on The Simmons at East Adams, an affordable housing community in Syracuse planned with 125 units for seniors. Project leaders said environmental remediation has been completed and vertical construction has started.

The development is named for Bill Simmons, a former Syracuse Housing Authority executive director. Project leaders also said the effort faced a setback during a federal government shutdown last year, including the loss of $4 million in capital stock.
