Fort Drum officials discussed winter preparations, traffic changes and seasonal activities during a Community Information Exchange on Oct. 7, 2026.

Parking will be prohibited on roadway and housing-area shoulders from Nov. 1 through April 1 to support snow removal. Warning citations are scheduled from Nov. 2 through Nov. 15, followed by citations. Residents will be responsible for clearing their own driveways and sidewalks leading to their homes.

Fort Drum also advised community members to review severe-weather procedures, road conditions and emergency alerts. During winter weather, motorists were reminded to use caution in traffic circles and treat intersections with nonworking traffic lights as four-way stops.

Mount Belvedere Boulevard construction is expected to create closures and detours in two periods, Oct. 5-16 and Oct. 19-30, near the AAFES Mini-Mall and Candlewood Suites. The Gas Alley Gate will remain closed through winter, with access continuing through the Wheeler-Sack Army Airfield gate.

Upcoming activities include a Trunk or Treat event Oct. 23, a Spooky Dash Oct. 24, a Zombie 5K Oct. 24, a children’s CYS Monster Dash Oct. 26 and a Spooktacular Bowling Night on Oct. 31. Trick-or-treating in Fort Drum housing areas is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.
