Free five-week grief support group set to begin Sept. 2 in Massena
Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley will run a free five-week grief support group for adults, called Navigating Grief Together, beginning Sept. 2 at the Massena Community Center.
Adults in Massena who are coping with a loss will have access to a free support group starting next month. Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley is offering a five-week program called Navigating Grief Together, open to adults grieving any type of loss.
Sessions will be held in person on Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m., beginning Sept. 2, at the Massena Community Center, 61 Beach Street. There is no cost and no pre-registration is required.
The organization said the group may be most helpful for people whose loss occurred at least three months ago. Weekly meetings will cover what grief can feel like, how it affects the body and emotions, coping strategies, and healthy ways of staying connected to the person who died. Participants will also share their experiences with one another.
Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley described the program as a social support group rather than therapy, intended for adults already working through grief. More information is available by calling 315-265-3105.
