A trailer fire on Beartown Road in Natural Bridge displaced seven people early Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026. A cat and a dog died, and the home was destroyed, according to fire officials and the American Red Cross.
Volunteers from several fire departments in Jefferson and Lewis counties responded. Natural Bridge 1st Assistant Chief Mark Flint said firefighters found the rear of the trailer engulfed in flames and extinguished the fire in about 15 minutes. The rear was destroyed, while the rest of the home sustained heavy smoke and water damage.
The seven people included four adults and three children, ages 10, 14 and 16, the American Red Cross said. The organization provided immediate emergency aid, along with blankets and stuffed animals. No injuries were reported.
Reports differed on the timing: one said fire departments were called at about 2:45 a.m., while another said the fire began shortly before 3 a.m. The cause remains under investigation.
