Nearly 100 rally in Massena against proposed data centers

Nearly 100 people rallied on South Main Street in Massena on Oct. 3 to oppose proposed data centers in the town.

MassenaCommunity

Nearly 100 people rallied on South Main Street at the Route 37 intersection in Massena on Oct. 3 to oppose proposed data centers in the town. Participants held signs opposing the projects, and cars frequently honked as the demonstration took place near Walgreens.

The Massena Town Board recently voted 3-2 against a proposed six-month moratorium on data centers. NCCS has proposed three structures at its current site, each measuring between 150,000 and 200,000 square feet. The expansion site would involve more than 355 acres, and 10 data centers have been proposed in the town.
