Massena town board rejects proposed six-month data center moratorium

The Massena town board voted 3-2 against a proposed six-month moratorium on data center development, leaving the town to determine how to proceed with projects in the community.

NCCS has proposed a data center near the former Alcoa East plant. The company’s latest plan calls for using 400 megawatts of power from the New York Power Authority and a closed-loop cooling system. Several studies must be completed before construction could begin, with some study costs funded through a developer-provided escrow account.
