North Country projects receive $2.5 million in state grants
State grants totaling $2.5 million were awarded for infrastructure projects in Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Lewis and Franklin counties, including work in Clayton, Ogdensburg, Malone and Port Leyden.
New York awarded $2.5 million for four North Country infrastructure projects through the County Infrastructure Grant Program, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced. The grants are part of $38 million awarded for 49 projects statewide through a program administered by Empire State Development.
The village of Clayton will receive $1 million for utility extensions tied to the potential development of up to 20 workforce housing units. Ogdensburg was awarded $500,000 for a covered pavilion and restroom facility at Morrisette Park. The town of Malone will receive $500,000 to replace radio equipment at three Franklin County Emergency Services sites, while Port Leyden was awarded $500,000 for roadway, sidewalk and storm-drainage work along West Main Street and Elm Street.
