Potsdam approves donation process for Fall Island skatepark project

Potsdam trustees and the mayor authorized a formal process for accepting donations toward the Fall Island Skatepark project.

The Village of Potsdam has authorized a formal process for accepting donations toward the Fall Island Waterfront Recreation & Access Improvements/Art & Skatepark Project. Trustees and Mayor Alexandra Jacobs Wilke approved the resolution Aug. 17.

Under the resolution, donations from individuals, businesses and organizations are to be made payable to the Village of Potsdam and placed in a designated project account. The resolution also allows village officials, staff and volunteers to assist the Skatepark Committee with fundraising. Donations cannot come from entities with active procurement or regulatory matters before the village.

The project’s current work is taking place on Fall Island off Maple Street using grant funding. Additional work in a larger footprint is planned for a future phase, which would rely on other grants and donations.
