Watertown Area Construction Activity Slows, With Several Projects Pending

Construction activity has eased in the Watertown area this season, with a limited number of major projects underway and others still moving through local planning and permitting processes. The town’s current projects include a Circle K convenience store on outer Coffeen Street, which is planned to include Jimmy John’s, Wendy’s and Papa Johns Pizza. The store is expected to open next spring.

In Watertown, Carthage Savings Bank is building a branch at Washington and Mullin streets, while DePaul Properties is developing a 120-unit affordable housing building expected to be completed in early 2027. Other projects include a proposed Dave’s Hot Chicken at the former TGI Friday’s site, a solar project on Spring Valley Drive and a planned 12,000-square-foot Roth Industries expansion on South Bellew Avenue. The Jefferson County Code Enforcement Office reported that construction elsewhere in the county remains at usual levels.
