Watertown planning commission opposes proposed Ives Hill zoning change

The Watertown Planning Commission voted unanimously against a proposed zoning change that would move the Ives Hill Country Club clubhouse from residential to neighborhood mixed use.

The Watertown Planning Commission voted 5-0 against a proposed zoning change for Ives Hill Country Club. The proposal would move the clubhouse from residential zoning to neighborhood mixed use and separate its operation from the golf course.

The change could allow uses including a gas station or car wash if the property were sold. The developer, Jake Johnson, has said he would support a deed restriction limiting the site to a restaurant or office building. The commission’s vote does not end the proposal.
