Watertown police list contempt, drug and animal cruelty charges

Police said a 25-year-old Adams Center man was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony, at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building. Court documents cited by police accuse him of violating a stay-away order of protection by leaving a voicemail for the protected party on Aug. 10. A 25-year-old Watertown woman was charged with two counts of animal cruelty, a misdemeanor, in connection with the care of two dogs, police said. Police also listed a 67-year-old Antwerp woman charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and a license plate violation following a traffic stop in the 600 block of Pearl Street, and a 23-year-old Watertown woman charged with second-degree harassment, a violation, and arrested on a warrant. Three other people were arrested on bench warrants Wednesday, according to police. Police have also begun delaying the daily release of arrest information.
