
Watertown schools to receive $12.3 million for flood repairs

The Watertown City School District is set to receive $12.3 million for repairs and flood mitigation following damage from Tropical Storm Debby in August 2024. The funding includes $10.6 million from FEMA and $1.7 million from the New York State Department of Homeland Security.
The work will include repairs to the lower level of Watertown High School, North Elementary School and the high school’s outdoor track. About $2.9 million is designated for track replacement. The district also plans to rebuild parking lots behind Case Middle School and Watertown High School and add underground water tanks for storm drainage.
Lowville Academy and Central School also received flood damage during the storm. The school has received $2.2 million from FEMA and is expected to receive an additional $2.3 million.
