LAFARGEVILLE — Lance Willix drove the No. 31 to Victory Lane in the 25-lap Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTcar 358 Modified feature Friday night at Can-Am Speedway, holding off Watertown's Billy Dunn on First Responder Night presented by Northern Credit Union.

Willix, of Theresa, started fourth and worked his way to the front, while Dunn — the track's all-time Modified win leader — climbed from fifth to second, gaining three spots by the checkered flag but running out of laps to run down the leader. Jackson Gill of Plessis, who won his heat and started on the front row, settled for third. Preston Forbes and Shaun Shaw completed the top five.

The runner-up finish kept Dunn among the front-runners in the tightening late-season points chase. The No. 49 had set the pace at Can-Am for much of 2026, passing Hall of Famer Pat O'Brien for the track's all-time Modified win record in July, but Friday belonged to Willix on the high-banked LaFargeville clay.

Tim Fuller, also of Watertown, came home eighth in the 16-car field. In the Bob Johnson DIRTcar Sportsman feature, Frank Sibley of Calcium took the win, and Will Fisher led the Panther Frameworx 602 Crate Sprint Cars to the line.

Can-Am's Modified regulars are back in action Friday, Sept. 4 for Night of Champions.
