Copenhagen students revisit 9/11 time capsules 25 years later

Twins Sophia and Aubrey Colton-McDonald, eighth-grade students at Copenhagen Central School, recently opened time capsules made by fourth graders in the 2001-02 school year, the submitted research says.

Teacher Joanne M. Spooner helped students create the capsules and a scrapbook about the attacks. The materials include students’ thoughts, personal items representing their future plans and clippings about a March 2002 fire in Carthage. One former student, David Hovendon, placed a toy police car in his capsule and later became a New York State trooper. Another former student, Sarah Fowler, is now a teacher, according to the research.
