Fire damages Watertown home on South Hamilton Street

A fire damaged a single-family home at 647 South Hamilton Street in Watertown on Oct. 10, and the cause remains under investigation.

A fire damaged a single-family home at 647 South Hamilton Street in Watertown on Saturday morning, Oct. 10, according to information attributed to the City of Watertown. Firefighters arrived at about 10:37 a.m. and extinguished the fire inside the home.

The fire damaged the building’s electrical system and caused smoke damage throughout the structure. The sole occupant evacuated before firefighters arrived and was taken to Samaritan Medical Center for smoke inhalation treatment before being released, according to the city’s reported information. Guilfoyle EMS, the Watertown Police Department, City Code Enforcement, the City Water Department and National Grid assisted at the scene. The cause remains under investigation.
