Fort Drum and North Country community members gathered Sept. 11, 2026, at the “Lest We Forget” Memorial outside Clark Hall for a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The event included a ceremonial bell, a wreath-laying and Taps. Brig. Gen. Adam Cobb, the 10th Mountain Division’s commanding general for sustainment, spoke during the ceremony, which honored first responders and service members affected by the attacks and their aftermath.

Earlier that day, thousands of Fort Drum community members took part in the annual 9/11 Remembrance 5K outside Magrath Sports Complex. Soldiers from Multipurpose Company, 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, carried two litters loaded with 180 pounds during the run, while Spc. Negalgne Somers of the Fort Drum Army Ten-Miler Team served as lead runner.
