Robert W. Mickens, about 35, is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 2 in Jefferson County Court after pleading guilty to two reduced felony charges, according to the state court system's public records.

Court records show Mickens pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree assault and attempted third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, each a class E felony. The original indictment charged two counts of second-degree assault under the subsection covering injury to a police or peace officer or other listed worker to keep them from performing a lawful duty, third-degree weapon possession by a person with a prior conviction, and first-degree promoting prison contraband, a charge that involves possessing dangerous contraband while confined in a detention facility. All of those were class D felonies, and the record lists them as reduced or covered by the plea.

The records list an incident date of March 18, 2024, and an arrest by State Police in Alexandria Bay on Feb. 11, 2025. Judge David A. Renzi presides, and Mickens is represented by assigned counsel.

Sentencing dates can change, and a conviction may be appealed.
