Ogdensburg man pleads guilty in fatal 2024 Potsdam crash

An Ogdensburg man pleaded guilty in St. Lawrence County Court to two counts of criminally negligent homicide in connection with a 2024 crash that killed two Massena residents. He also admitted to using Snapchat when his pickup truck went through a stop sign at State Highway 310 and County Route 34 in the town of Potsdam and struck an SUV.
The victims were Real Coupal, 84, and Loretta Perez, 73. The plea agreement calls for a one-year sentence in the St. Lawrence County jail, with the sentences for the two homicide counts running concurrently. Formal sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 16. The man also pleaded guilty to failing to stop at a stop sign and using an electronic device while driving.
