The Village of Potsdam plans to add a new “Welcome to Potsdam” sign at the western entrance as part of its Downtown Riverwalk Project. The sign is expected to go in the greenspace where Maple Street connects with Sandstone Drive.
The Village Board of Trustees approved allowing Mayor Alexandra Jacobs-Wilke to sign an agreement with Adirondack Studios, an Argyle company that designs and builds themed environments, public art and other specialized projects. The sign will be funded with Downtown Revitalization Initiative money allocated to the Riverwalk project.
A village-appointed committee will help determine the sign’s design. Adirondack Studios has worked on projects for major theme parks, including Disney and Universal Studios, and maintains operations in several locations worldwide.
The Riverwalk Project connects the end of Maple Street with Sandstone Drive. The sign will be located near a mini-park area with plantings and a new sidewalk, providing a visible marker for people entering Potsdam. Updates about the project and village board business are available through the Village of Potsdam Board of Trustees.
