Three St. Lawrence County animals test positive for rabies

Two raccoons in Canton and a skunk in the Ogdensburg area have tested positive for rabies, the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department said.

The animals were submitted by the department to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Laboratory. The department said 24 animals have tested positive for rabies in St. Lawrence County so far this year.

Animal bites or possible rabies exposures should be reported to the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department at (315) 386-2325. The county’s 2026 free rabies clinic schedule is available on its website.
