Three St. Lawrence County animals test positive for rabies
The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department said a cat in De Peyster, a raccoon in Canton and a skunk in Ogdensburg tested positive for rabies, bringing the county’s total to 21 animals this year.

The county has recorded 21 rabies-positive animals so far this year, the department said.
Residents are advised to avoid contact with wild animals and stray pets, keep pets and livestock vaccinated, and report animal bites or possible rabies exposures to the department at (315) 386-2325. Anyone whose pet or livestock may have encountered a rabid animal should contact a veterinarian and Public Health immediately.
