The department advises residents to report animal bites or possible rabies exposures to 315-386-2325, keep pets and livestock vaccinated, and avoid contact with wild animals or stray pets. Residents whose animals may have been exposed should contact a veterinarian and the health department immediately. The county’s next free rabies clinic is scheduled for Sept. 23 in Massena, with preregistration required.
